The game was released for the Microsoft Windows operating system, and the Xbox and PlayStation 3 video game consoles in February , after the third season of the series. In Via Domus, players control Elliott Maslow, a survivor of the plane crash that Lost revolves around. Some of the original cast of the series provided the voices for their characters, and the Lost composer Michael Giacchino created the score for the game.
We might have the game available for more than one platform. Lost: Via Domus is currently available on these platforms:. Lost: Via Domus Screenshots Windows. Press ESC to close. Ubisoft only managed to secure a few Lost actors to do VO -- and most have small roles in the game. The Locke 'sound-a-like' plays him as an old timey prospector and Sawyer may actually have been voiced by Huckleberry Hound. For a licensed game, the lack of star power is a major drawback.
But you're a Lost fan, right? So of course you will soldier on. You can perhaps convince yourself that one of the Island's mysterious powers is making people sound like they came out of a cartoon. Via Domus is wisely set up as an adventure game.
This makes perfect sense for a property like Lost, where exploration is more common than action. In each episode you'll talk to characters from the show, trudge through the jungle and live through one of Elliott's flashbacks.
The conversation system is smart with different categories to sort your options. You can ask quest-related questions, general questions, get information on items in your inventory or trade items with another character. The general questions are the kinds of things we often see in licensed games that give background information to people unfamiliar with the property. The funny thing about Via Domus is that the characters' dialogue matches that of the show. So when you ask Sawyer why he was on Flight , he tells you to mind your own beeswax.
Lost: Via Domus was part of the last era of the tie in video game to a movie or TV show. I was obsessed with the Lost TV show and even now I would have to put it in my top ten shows of all time.
So, when I heard that there was a Lost video game coming out I knew that this was going to be a day one purchase for me. Let me start by saying that you simply have to be a fan of the TV show to enjoy this game.
A huge reason for this is that the story the game tells is amazing. Lost: Via Domus takes place between seasons 1 and 2 of the show and you play as a character who is not from the show. Instead, you crash on the island with the rest of the gang, but you have lost your memory.
The goal of the game is to find out who you are and what is going on with this strange island. While you are playing as a character who is not on the show. You interact with all of the main cast. So, Jack, Kate, Locke and more are all here and you get to deal with them all. The character models are great and still hold up. I feel the locations are decent enough too, but the voice acting lets things down as they were not able to get all of the major actors to reprise their roles.
The gameplay of Lost: Via Domus I feel is quite interesting. Look, I will fully admit that as a massive fan of the show I was able to overlook many of the downfalls that this game has.
However, I feel that as a TV tie in-game it is pretty solid. You actually have a lot of things to do.
